The Violence Against Women and Girls Plan 2019-2021 was presented to and passed by Hounslow Council's cabinet in March 2019. The plan came into effect in April 2019 and a link to the final document can be found below.

Hounslow Community Safety Partnership is made up of a number of local agencies including Hounslow Council, Metropolitan Police, London Fire Brigade, National Probation Service and the NHS. These agencies work together in partnership to reduce crime, disorder, substance misuse and reoffending. The main purpose and mission statement of the partnership is to make Hounslow a safer place to work, live and visit.

The Partnership is committed to reducing the prevalence of all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG). We’re currently developing a new VAWG Plan, which is a refresh of the first VAWG strategic plan from 2012. Locally we have adopted the Home Office and United Nations definition of VAWG. This definition incorporates many different forms of abuse, and this plan will address the following:

  • Domestic Violence/Abuse
  • Sexual Violence
  • Stalking
  • Trafficking for sexual exploitation
  • Prostitution
  • Female Genital Mutilation
  • Forced Marriage and Honour Based Violence

The plan will sit alongside existing policies and procedures that provide protection and redress for all victims of crime. This includes all groups regardless of gender, sexuality, religion, race or disability.

Why your views matter

Our new plan will represent a long term strategic approach for 2018-2021 – and this is what we’d like to get your views on. This strategy covers four key priorities:

  1. Provision of Appropriate Support
  2. Partnership Working Across Statutory and Voluntary Agencies
  3. Education, Prevention and Early Intervention
  4. Tackling Perpetrators

In the suvey that we would like you to complete below, we’ll provide you with information about the current work we’re doing on each of the priority areas and how we’d like to develop Hounslow’s response to each area. We would value your views on our suggested strategic priorities to ensure they make a real and sustainable difference to the lives of those who live, work and visit Hounslow.

We will be running interviews and focus groups with women (transgender women and non-binary people included) who have experienced abuse to learn more about how we can shape our services for the future. The focus groups will be held in the last week of August and first week of September. There will be a £10 voucher for every person that contributes to the interviews of focus groups. If you would like to know more, please contact Keryn Jalli on 020 8583 2582 or email:

What happens next

This consultation is now closed. All the views and experiences gathered in this survey will be put together along with views and experiences gathered during the focus group and telephone interviews. They will be considered as part of the Community Safety Partnership Board’s three year VAWG Plan which will be developed over Winter. We will upload the final plan on this page once it has been approved.
