For the opinions of residents on a potential flood alleviation scheme utilising SuDS in the Brentford North area.
There was general concern around flooding and the future impact of climate change. There was general support for sustainable drainage systems to be utilised to alleviate flooding along with gneral support for the council to do the works.
Concerns raised around the amenity that the SuDS would deliver, and what impact / impingement there would be on available parking space in the area. These would need to be taken into account in further consultation / development of the plans.
The feasibility of the scheme in Brentford North is still being investigated and the options are not finalised. In this process, results from the consultation will be taken into account.
This survey was carrried out between 12th March 2021 and 20th April 2021 to ask residents opinions on potential implementation of a SuDS scheme in Brentford North.

The London Borough of Hounslow wants to build sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) in the area of Brentford located north of the A4 (Brentford North), to reduce risk of flooding. We have identified Brentford North as an area with critical drainage problems.
More than 20 residents reported flooding in this area during our 2018 flood investigation survey. Most residents reported flooding incidents at the junction between Windmill Road and Whitestile Road.
Sustainable Drainage
Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) have multiple benefits. During and after it rains, SuDS can store and slow down water. This helps to reduce the risk of rainwater flooding roads or entering properties.
SuDS can improve water quality, air quality, recreation and community health and wellbeing. Many SuDS options create new green spaces and can increase the visual appeal within a local area. For an example of how the SuDS would look on a road, please click here
