The above recommendations were approved by the Borough Council and the changes took effect from the 1 November 2019 electoral register.

The Council is conducting a statutory review of all of the polling districts, polling places and polling stations in the borough.  The Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 states the review must be held between 1 October 2018 and 31 January 2020.

Why We Are Consulting

The purpose of the review is to ensure that all of the polling districts, polling places and polling stations in the borough serve the needs of all voters.

The Council welcomes the views of all residents, particularly disabled residents, any person or body with expertise in access for persons with any type of disability on its proposals and the (Acting) Returning Officer’s representation or any other matter relating to the electoral process.

Persons or bodies making representations should, if possible, give alternative places that may be considered for use as a polling place.

What Happens Next

The consultation period for the review has now ended.  The Audit and Governance committee will be meeting on 26 September 2019 to agree a final document for Council.

Final proposals will be consided at the full borough council meeting on 29 October 2019.
