Greener Borough Community Reference Group

Closed 6 Mar 2020

Opened 25 Feb 2020

The Cleaner Greener Hounslow Programme outlines our collective ambition for the borough – a place where people want to live, visit and raise their families, where communities and the Council work together to maintain the streets and public realm, lead happy, healthy lives and collectively build Civic Pride.

We believe that the community is at the heart of delivering a cleaner and greener Hounslow and a large number of people have expressed a strong desire to be involved in working with the Council to improve the borough’s streets, parks and open spaces.  In response the Council will be setting up the Greener Borough Community Reference Group (CRG).

The remit of the Greener Borough CRG will be to encompass the monitoring and implementation of the Greener Borough Programme and the Hounslow Biodiversity Action Plan (HBAP). It will cultivate community involvement and develop partnerships to foster environmental stewardship through education, awareness and innovative green programmes and events.

The Greener Borough Programme will focus upon greening our urban spaces (Green Walls, Green Roofs etc), planting more trees/shrubs, expanding the number and size of wildflower sites and nature reserves, improving parks and open spaces, increasing biodiversity and delivering major green improvements across the public realm.

The HBAP will aim to provide a strategic overview of biodiversity across the borough's nature conservation sites and will prioritise issues, actions and targets for protecting, conserving and enhancing wildlife and habitats as well as raise awareness and encourage community action as a key part of the nature conservation process.
