Overview

In accordance with the School Admissions (Admission Arrangements and Co-ordination of Admission Arrangements) (England) Regulations 2012, admission authorities are required to consult on any proposed changes to their admission arrangements for a minimum of six weeks.

Why your views matter

The London Borough of Hounslow proposes to update the defintion of the ‘Children of Staff’ criterion as part of the oversubscription criteria for all Community Schools for 2022-2023.  The previous definition of this criterion is;

Children of staff – children of any member of staff, regardless of role in the school where:

  1. The member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time of application or
  2. The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage

The proposed updated definition is;

Children of staff – children of any member of staff, regardless of role in the school where:

  1. The member of staff has been directly employed by the school for two or more years at the time of application or
  2. The member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage

This update has been made to give clarity on eligibility under this criterion.

We have also updated the definition for distance measurement due to a change in systems and strengthened the definitions for exceptional medical and social need and applications from abroad.  These can be viewed in Appendix I - guidance (see highlighted sections) of the proposed admission arrangements.

The full proposed admission arrangements reflecting these changes can be found below. The arrangements will be approved in February 2021 by the Lead Member for Education, Children and Youth Services.’
