Proposal to Remove SEN centre for Children with Specific Learning Difficulties at Marlborough Primary School

Closes 18 Oct 2019

Opened 20 Sep 2019

Marlborough Primary School is a maintained 4-11 years primary school that hosts a special educational needs (SEN) centre for pupils with specific learning difficulties, offering up to 14 places for pupils with Education, Health and Care plans. The Local Authority is proposing to remove the SEN centre from 31 August 2021 because the number of pupils placed at the centre has declined over the last three years and analysis of data indicates that demand will continue to reduce in the future.

The full details of the proposal can be found in the 'Marlborough Primary School proposal' document at the bottom of the page.

Why We Are Consulting

In accordance with section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006, the proposed change to the SEN centre at Marlborough Primary School is described as 'prescribed alterations' and requires a period of consultation, the publication of statutory Notices and the agreement of Cabinet if the proposal is to proceed. A copy of the statutory Notice can be found at the bottom of the page.

We undertook a preliminary consultation in January and February 2019, the results of which can be found in the 'related documents' links at the bottom of the page.
