CPZ, 30-80 Burlington Lane, Chiswick

Closed 5 Oct 2018

Opened 27 Aug 2018

In recent years, the council has received a number of complaints and a petition regarding inadequate parking provision along the stretch of road fronting Nos. 30-80 Burlington Road. Whilst the council is sympathetic to these concerns, this stretch of Burlington Road is part of the Transport for London Road Network (TLRN), and we do not have the authority to implement parking controls on the TLRN without the approval of Transport for London (TfL). However, all parties are keen to see whether there is majority support for such a proposal from residents and, if so, to what extent these should operate. If that support exists, further detailed negotiation between the council and TfL will take place.

A significant part of this consultation relates to the possible operational times in the event that parking controls are eventually introduced. As residents will be aware, Burlington Lane is surrounded by the existing Chiswick Mall (CM) CPZ and, therefore, the proposal is to include it in that CPZ. However, following a recent review, some changes are being progressed with the Chiswick Mall CPZ operational times. Therefore, in the event of Burlington Lane parking controls being supported, residents will need to determine if they prefer the times (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm) being retained in roads to the east such as Corney Road, or the new times (Mon-Sun, 9am-8pm) being progressed in roads to the west such as Paxton Road.

Why your views matter

The purpose of this consultation is to give you an opportunity to assess the proposals before indicating whether you would support them, and to comment on the proposed design. I would encourage you to respond even if you do not experience parking difficulties and/or are not in favour of parking controls. Before completing the survey on this page, please refer to the information letter and plan, which were sent to area residents via post and can be found below in the 'Related' section .

What happens next

Once the consultation responses have been analysed, and should there be support for parking controls, this information will be presented to TfL as part of the council’s continuing efforts to support residents and businesses at this location. A further letter will be provided in due course detailing the outcome of this consultation process and the next course of action.
