Churchfields Avenue – Traffic and Pedestrian improvements

The council is proposing to improve the traffic and pedestrian environment on Churchfields Avenue, on the section between Saxon Avenue and Water Mill Way, as shown on the plan below and in the related documents below.

The improvements include:

  • Carriageway widening to provide vehicles with the necessary space to move past parked vehicles, and prevent vehicles from overunning and damaging the grass verge. 
  • Introduction of tactile paving to alert visually impaired pedestrians of the approaching street.
  • Extending the double yellow line ‘No Waiting at any time’ restriction on Saxon Avenue to the bus stop, in order to provide the bus with the necessary space to make the right turn from Churchfields Avenue.

The proposal to extend the double yellow lines will also undergo a separate statutory consultation in due course, which will involve Notices being placed on lamp columns in the vicinity, as well as in the local Gazette and on our website.
