Kingsley Road, Hounslow - Transport Improvements

Closes 10 Feb 2020

Opened 13 Jan 2020

We have developed proposals to create a better pedestrian environment on Kingsley Road from Hounslow East London Underground Station to London Road. The proposals include:

  • Upgrade of the pedestrian crossing outside Hounslow East station and at Cecil Road junction to include a pedestrian countdown. This allows pedestrians to see how long they have to cross.
  • Introduction of a signalled pedestrian crossing between 32 Kingsley Road.
  • Removing unnecessary signage and introducing cycle stands outside Hounslow East station
  • Improvements to the existing vehicular access points at the side of 49 Kingsley Road, 66A Kingsley Road, and 25 Kingsley Road. These points will be changed to vehicle crossovers to improve pedestrian priority and routes to and from Hounslow East station. You can see an example of a dropped crossing by clicking here.
  • Implementation of a side road entry treatment at the Cecil Road and Stirling Grove junctions to give pedestrians a level surface to cross, and reduce the speed of vehicles turning into the junction.
  • Widen the footway south of Hounslow East station in front of the shops, to maximise space for pedestrians and construct build-outs to protect the inset parking bays.
  • Removal of guard railings on the approaches to the London Road junction, to maximise space for pedestrians and footway widening.

The proposed improvements are shown on the plans in the “Related” section found below.
