Cranford Lane Cycle Improvements

Closed 1 Dec 2021

Opened 3 Nov 2021

Overview

We are consulting on proposals to improve cycling facilities on Cranford Lane between High Street, Cranford and Northfield Road, and would like to hear your views. The proposed improvements, which aim to create a safer and more attractive route for cyclists, are to:

  • Upgrade the existing advisory cycle lanes to mandatory lanes.

  • Widen cycle lanes where space permits.

  • Provide additional cycle logo road markings at side road junctions and bus stops, and in the carriageway where space does not allow for cycle lanes to be marked, such as on the approach to pedestrian refuge islands.

  • Remove traffic islands and re-position speed cushions between Pegg Road and Armitage Road, and east of Brabazon Road, to allow for cycle lanes to be provided in these locations.

  • Introduce Double Yellow Lines “At Any Time” waiting restrictions to prevent obstructive parking, to maintain access to the cycle lanes, and to retain space for two-way motor traffic movements. Parking by blue badge holders, for up to 3 hours, and loading/unloading (for up to 40 minutes) will be permitted.

To see the proposals in more details, please refer to the consultation drawings in the ‘Related Links' section (see below).
