Cycle Parking: Bikehangars

Closes 12 Dec 2022

Opened 14 Nov 2022

Overview

As part of the council’s commitment to increase levels of cycling in the borough, we provide residents with the opportunity to apply for cycle parking in the form of a bikehangar. Bikehangars offer secure cycle parking for residents in areas where the ability to safely store bikes within a property, or the front/rear garden is limited.

The council covers the installation cost of new bikehangar and also provides a 50% subsidy on the cost of renting spaces. Therefore, the annual rental fee per year is £36 per space, with each hangar providing space for six bikes. A bikehangar’s dimensions are as follows: 2.5m (length) x 2m (width/depth) x 1.4m (height), approximately the size of half a car parking space.

Just recently, seven bike hangars have been proposed. The Council has recieved additional funding that allows the progression of requests that were on the waiting list. Therefore another set of bike hangars are being proposed as seen below, after further feasibility assessments and in-line with current demand.

To view the plans, please click on the road names, which are highlighted, in the paragraph below.

Bikehangar Sites

Abinger Road Chiswick: The location chosen is to support where demand and the requests originally came from. This parking bay is chosen, as a bike hangar only takes half a car parking space, thus minimising the impact of parking on the road.

Clarence Road, Chiswick: The location is chosen to support where the demand is and where the requests originally came from. The bike hangar will take up half a car parking space therefore minimising the impact of the bike hangar on parking.

Dean Road, Hounslow: The location is chosen to support where the demand is and where the requests originally came from. The bike hangar will take up half a car parking space therefore minimising the impact of the bike hangar on parking.

Flanders Road, Chiswick: The location chosen is to support where demand and the requests originally came from, and to support residents at Flanders Mansion.
