Electric Vehicle charging points consultation

Closed 20 Jul 2018

Opened 21 Jun 2018

Overview

We would like your views on proposals to introduce new electric vehicle (EV) charging points at 13 locations across the borough as part of Source London - the public network of EV charging points in London originally launched in May 2011.

Background

London suffers from extremely poor air quality, with emissions of Nitrogen Dioxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) breaching legal limits. Tailpipe emissions from diesel and petrol vehicles account for a significant proportion of these emissions.

In Hounslow, the entire borough is a declared Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) and is legally required under the Environment Act 1995 to prepare and implement measures to address this issue. One such measure is to encourage the uptake of ultra-low emission vehicles and installation of the charging infrastructure required, which is supported by the borough and Mayor at a pan-London level.

Details of the proposals, and how to give your views

The proposed EV charge point locations are shown on the maps listed below in order of Ward boundary, and these also detail the number of proposed EV bays in each location. Charging points are marked on the maps with an orange circle, and EV parking bays themselves are shaded grey.

The Source London network is primarily used as a top-up facility for EV users who are out and about, rather than as their primary source of charging, with users being charged by the hour. Installed charge points will be 7.4kw.

We would value your views on these proposals by completing the short questionnaire found below, and should you like additional information please email Tyler Creese at transportplanning@hounslow.gov.uk.
