Hospital Road proposed Zebra Crossing

Closed 30 Oct 2022

Opened 3 Oct 2022

We would like your views on proposals to introduce a new zebra crossing on Hospital Road, Hounslow.

What are we proposing?

We propose to add a zebra crossing north of the junction with the access road leading to Aldi, to provide a formal crossing facility for pedestrians.

The scheme would also introduce formal give-way markings and additional signage at the access road junction, to formalise the junction, and further highlight that only left turn movements are permitted here.

The proposals include a section of “Zig-Zag” road markings either side of the crossing where vehicles will not be permitted to stop.

Why are we proposing this?

After receiving requests to introduce improved crossing facilities in the road, we arranged surveys. These surveys confirmed that demand to cross here is very high, and that a formal crossing is justified. A review of accident data also showed that there have been a number of recorded accidents involving pedestrians in the last three years.

A formal crossing improves safety, provides more priority for pedestrians to cross, and encourages more local trips to be made on foot.
