Station Road, Hounslow - New Contraflow Cycling Lane

Overview

The Council would like to introduce a contraflow cycle route for cyclists in Station Road. A contraflow cycle route will allow cyclists to safely travel through Station Road between Whitton Road and Hanworth Road in the opposite direction to the existing vehicular one way.

What are we proposing?

The proposals include:

  • a new traffic island to protect cyclists exiting Station Road at its junction with Whitton Road; 

  • amendments to the existing raised table to ensure both cyclists and vehicles have enough space to safety manoeuvre at the Station Road/Whitton Road junction; and 

  • two new road humps to ensure traffic speeds remain low.
